John Krasinski’s new title as People’s Sexiest Man Alive is going to cost him.
The 45-year-old joked that while his wife Emily Blunt was “very excited” by the news, she isn’t going to ease up on him. In fact, quite the opposite.
“I think it's going to make me do more household chores,” The Office star told People in his cover story. “After this comes out, she’ll be like, ‘All right, that means you’re going to really earn it here at home.’”
However, the Mary Poppins Returns star, who shares daughters Hazel, 10, and Violet, 8, with Krasinski also insisted on a home décor refresh, joking she planned to wallpaper the house with his sexy new cover.
"Do we have that on camera? Because that’s like a binding contract, I think," Krasinski quipped. "My children will love that, it won’t be weird at all."
The Quiet Place director and star noted that “there was a lot of joy” in him sharing the news with his wife of 14 years.
“It’s that beautiful thing where when you’re married to someone, you’re constantly learning and changing and evolving,” he said of their romance. “And I’m so lucky to go through all that with her.”
As for the Jack Ryan star’s initial reaction to the new title, he was in disbelief.
“Just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts,” he said. “Other than maybe I'm being punked. That's not how I wake up, thinking, ‘Is this the day that I'll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?’ And yet it was the day you guys did it. You guys have really raised the bar for me.”
Krasinski, who took over for 2023 winner Patrick Dempsey, isn’t the only sexy man acknowledged by the magazine. Wicked star Jonathan Bailey, Robert Pattinson, Jacob Elordi, and HGTV handyman Chip Gaines all picked up accolades inside this year’s issue.
